Purpose

The Foundation will support, augment, and enrich the outstanding educational processes already taking place in the classrooms at WHS.  This will be done through a grant application process.  In the future, the Foundation hopes to build a comprehensive database of alumni and their educational and professional career paths in an effort to create networking opportunities for future and past graduates.  The Foundation realizes the importance of maintaining contact with and celebrating the personal and professional successes of  Winnacunnet graduates.

History

A four-town coalition called the Winnacunnet Outreach Committee was formed in 2004 to get information out to the public on the absolute need for expansion and renovation of the high school for students from Hampton, Hampton Falls, North Hampton and Seabrook.  Not content to allow the spirit of eagerness for improvement die when victory was achieved, Jerry McConnell, together with a few of the willing participants from the Outreach Committee pulled together a new committee.  This new committee has been officially designated as the "Friends of Winnacunnet Foundation."

The Foundation is described by McConnell as simply an ongoing fund-raiser primarily involving alumni, students, their families and friends, the business and industrial community and the parent–teacher groups from the four towns.  The goal of the organization is to work with WHS to create a learning environment that fosters achievement and growth among WHS students and staff.  The Foundation held its second meeting on April 12, 2005 and established a Board of Directors to manage the operation and created a General Membership that is open to anyone wishing to be a part of this historic endeavor.  A tax-exempt status allowing deductions for donations made to the Foundation has been approved by the IRS.  To view a copy of the letter approving our IRS 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status, click HERE.  The Foundation has been assigned the EIN (Employee Identification Number) 42-1666789.

Meetings

Meetings are held four times during the school on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the "Principal's Conference Room, B-108" at WHS.  All those interested in joining the organization and willing to help are encouraged to attend.  Anyone interested in working with the group should contact Phil Maltais, at email: philmaltais@comcast.net.
